Sampo posts profit of over $396 million

Finland-based insurer Sampo PLC’s pre-tax profit increased by 109% year-on-year to €368 million ($396 million) in the fourth quarter of 2023, driven by price increases, XM reported citing Reuters. However, the insurer missed market expectations as tough winter weather led to more frequent claims in Nordic nations. Sampo’s combined ratio declined 1.4 percentage points to 84.6% in 2023 from the year prior.
