Burns & Wilcox, One80 make environmental buys

Burns & Wilcox Ltd. said Tuesday it has agreed to acquire Environmental Underwriting Solutions, a wholesale broker based in Birmingham, Alabama, from Insurance Office of America.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

EUS specializes in placing environmental risks, including general liability, pollution, professional liability, auto, workers compensation and excess coverages.

Beth Linton, previously president of EUS, will take up the role of vice president, environmental brokerage at Burns & Wilcox based in Atlanta.

She will report to Blaise D’Antoni, executive vice president, Eastern U.S., at Burns & Wilcox, and will continue to oversee staff located in EUS’ Alabama, Atlanta, Birmingham and Charleston offices.

The deal is expected to close in the next four to six weeks.

Burns & Wilcox is the wholesale broker and underwriting manager subsidiary of H.W. Kaufman Group.

Separately, Boston-based One80 Intermediaries said Tuesday it has acquired Enviant, a managing general underwriter that specializes in environmental coverage, from Euclid Program Managers.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Houston-based Enviant provides environmental casualty, site pollution and contractor’s pollution and professional insurance coverages.

Euclid Environmental Underwriters LLC acquired Enviant in 2016.
