Aegon to move legal base to Bermuda

Dutch insurer Aegon NV said it will move its legal base to Bermuda but will maintain its headquarters in the Netherlands and continue as a Dutch tax resident, Reuters reported. The decision follows Aegon’s planned sale of its Dutch insurance business to smaller rival ASR Nederland NV. Aegon’s supervision would switch to the Bermuda Monetary Authority from the Dutch central bank as without sizable insurance operations in the country, the Dutch Central Bank can no longer be its primary insurance regulator.
