BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

A Florida construction company was cited by the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration for four serious violations after one worker died and another was seriously injured while working on an Interstate 95 bridge expansion project last December.

OSHA proposed $58,942 in penalties against The de Moya Group, a construction company specializing in complex infrastructure projects across Florida, over the workplace incident, which caused the death of one worker and led to a severely broken leg for another.

The company was cited for exposing employees to struck-by hazards and for various failures relating to crane operations.

The carpenters fell onto a roadway below I-95 when a 90-foot-long concrete pile weighing 35,000 pounds broke free from restraints after a crane shifted due to unstable soil and struck a lift boom, causing the men to fall.

The workers were involved with a project to expand a bridge along southbound I-95 in the Fort Lauderdale area.

OSHA said the company has already contested the findings before the Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission.
