BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

Workers compensation insurer Berkshire Hathaway Homestate Cos., part of Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway Inc., on Thursday announced a partnership with San Francisco-based health care analytics company Clarify Health Solutions geared toward improving outcomes for injured workers.

The insurer said it plans to tap into Clarify Health’s platform containing claims data for more than 300 million people to advance its mission of helping injured workers find top orthopedic surgeons, reduce surgical complications, and facilitate quicker returns to work.

Clarify Health’s platform uses machine learning algorithms to compare orthopedic surgeons in workers comp claims, assessing metrics such as cost efficiency, hospital readmission rates and post-surgical stays, according to Clarify Health founder and CEO Jean Drouin.

The information helps Omaha, Nebraska-based Berkshire find top physicians for injured workers in its comp division, “ensuring quality care and positive outcomes,” Mr. Drouin said in a statement.

The partnership follows a successful pilot program in 2022, according to the companies.

The insurer said that orthopedic injuries are among the most common workplace injuries and many cases require surgery before an injured worker can return to employment.
