BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. on Thursday said it has acquired Leavitt Insurance Services of Los Angeles, a unit of Leavitt Group.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Woodland Hills, California-based Leavitt Insurance Services of Los Angeles offers commercial property/casualty insurance and employee benefits consulting to clients in the Southwest, a Gallagher statement said.

The brokerage has approximately 20 employees, a Gallagher spokesman said.

Teri Frankel, managing principal and employee benefits advisor, Kenneth Blaich senior vice president, commercial insurance and co-owner, and other Leavitt Insurance Services of Los Angeles employees will remain in their current location reporting to Scott Firestone, head of Gallagher’s Southwest region retail property/casualty brokerage operations, and Charlie Isaacs, head of Gallagher's West region employee benefits consulting operations, the statement said.

Leavitt Group, which is the 24th largest brokerage of U.S. business according to Business Insurance’s most recent ranking, did not immediately respond to a request for comment on the deal.

Separately, Gallagher said it has acquired Switzerland-based AccurART, a specialist fine arts insurance broker for private collections, museums, galleries and fine arts exhibitions, which also places coverage for jewelry, wine collections and musical instruments. Terms were not disclosed.
