Insurers expect to settle 95% of earthquake claims by June

Atilla Benli, president of the Insurance Association of Turkiye, said that Turkish insurers are prepared to settle 95% of all claims, including from corporate clients, stemming from the massive Feb. 6 earthquakes by the end of June, Middle East Insurance Review reported. Mr. Benli added that average insurance coverage rate in the cities destroyed by the quakes is between 17-20%. He said that claims payable in the private sector are around 76 billion Turkish lira ($3.91 billion).
