Qualcomm losses bid to overturn fine of over $790 million

South Korea’s Supreme Court has upheld a 1.03 trillion South Korean won ($791 million) fine imposed on U.S.-based chip giant Qualcomm Inc. by the country’s antitrust regulator for unfair business practices, The Korea Herald reported. The Korea Fair Trade Commission had fined Qualcomm in December 2016 after it breached the national competition law by denying licenses to chipset manufacturers and demanding higher fees for patents used by smartphone makers.
