Ex-Audi boss likely to be convicted in big diesel emissions scandal

A German court indicated on March 28 that a conviction is likely for Rupert Stadler, former boss at German carmaker Audi AG, after it substantiated an accusation of fraud in the diesel emissions scandal, U.S. News reported citing Reuters. Mr. Stadler, along with three other defendants were charged in 2020 for their involvement in the scandal, five years after Audi’s parent company Volkswagen AG admitted responsibility of cheating on emissions tests. The fraud is punishable with up to ten years in prison under German law.
