BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

Tom Wakefield and James Kent

Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. Wednesday promoted Tom Wakefield to CEO of Gallagher Re and named James Kent, the previous head of the reinsurance brokerage unit, CEO, global insurance strategic relationships, at the parent company.

London-based Mr. Wakefield joined Gallagher Re from Aon PLC as CEO in June 2021, prior to Gallagher’s acquisition later that year of Willis Towers Watson PLC’s substantially bigger reinsurance brokerage business, which had been headed by Mr. Kent. After the deal was completed, Mr. Kent was named CEO of Gallagher Re, and Mr. Wakefield became CEO of its U.K. operations.

In his new role, Mr. Kent will establish a framework for Gallagher to connect with other companies in the insurance and reinsurance sector “including further investment in capital advisory and portfolio solutions,” a Gallagher statement said.

“The newly formed global role will bring a single point of contact to Gallagher’s carrier relationships, to support growth ambitions across our core trading partnerships,” said Tom Gallagher, CEO of Gallagher Global Brokerage, in the statement. Mr. Kent will report to Mr. Gallagher and Doug Howell, the company’s chief financial officer.
