CommonSpirit Health’s rising volumes and strong investment returns offset staffing shortages, rising costs and a ransomware attack during the Catholic health giant’s fiscal second quarter ended Dec. 31, 2022, reports Fierce Healthcare. The nonprofit hospital system reported a $474 million operating loss for the quarter, nearly a sixfold plummet from the $81 million operating loss recorded during the same period a year prior.
