One third of factories halt production as supplies dwindle

Production of goods at about 30% of factories in Pakistan has come to a halt, as import restrictions have made it difficult for companies to receive the supply of key inputs, The Express Tribune reported. Over 9,000 containers are believed to be stuck at the ports as they await clearance of letters of credit, causing scarcity of raw materials that is affecting major production sectors.
