International Group of P&I Clubs raises shipowner rates by 5.8%

U.K.-based International Group of Protection & Indemnity Clubs has completed pooling and general excess of loss reinsurance contract structure for 2023/24, with a 5.8% increase in rates for shipowners, despite challenging market conditions, Reinsurance News reported. The group replaced one of its two expiring 10% multi-year private placements with a 5% line and renewed the other. IG has also expanded coverage for malicious cyber, COVID-19 and other pandemic risks, making it free for claims up to $650 million excess of $100 million, with aggregated cover above $750 million.
