Intact Financial estimates nearly $107 million in cat losses

Canadian property and casualty insurer Intact Financial Corp. reported that it paid out $143 million Canadian ($106.7 million) in pre-tax catastrophe losses in the fourth quarter of 2022, Reinsurance News reported. The losses mainly reflect the impact of windstorms that ravaged eastern Canada in late December 2022 and further development of losses from earlier part of 2022.
