Specialty insurer Everspan hires from Everest Re

Specialty property and casualty insurer Everspan Group Inc. on Thursday named former Everest Reinsurance Co. executive Darwin Lucas as chief underwriting and reinsurance officer.
Mr. Lucas will oversee the company’s program business and reinsurance relationships, a statement said.
He is based in Atlanta and will report directly to Everspan President Steve Dresner.
He succeeds Mr. Dresner, who was promoted to president in November, according to an email from a spokeswoman.
Mr. Lucas was most recently U.S. head of casualty and professional hybrid solutions at Everest Re, the statement said.
Everspan Group is a specialty property and casualty insurance platform that operates on an admitted and non-admitted basis. The companies that comprise the Everspan Group are wholly owned subsidiaries of Ambac Financial Group Inc., an insurance holding company, the statement said.
