Damage top $6 billion as over 30 extreme weather events hit Italy

According to Italian agricultural association Coldiretti, more than 30 extreme-weather events struck Italy this weekend, taking the estimated damages to farms and crops across the country to over €6 billion ($6.3 billion) this year, Ansa reported. Thunderstorms, hurricanes, and hailstorms lashed Italy this past weekend, uprooting trees, flooding fields and destroying greenhouses and crops in Sicily, Calabria, Puglia and Lazio regions.
