Gallagher buys Texas-based MGA

Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. said Wednesday its wholesale brokerage unit Risk Placement Services Inc. has acquired Tejas American General Agency LLC, a managing general agency based in Cedar Park, Texas.
Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Founded in 1997, TAGA offers commercial, farm and personal insurance coverage to independent agents in Texas.
TAGA founders Bart Koch, Anita Herzog, Cindy Yurkovich and Richard Salley and some 40 employees will remain in their current location under the direction of Kevin Doyle, vice president-Western region and Chicago for RPS.
