Reinsurers face downside risks from inflation, market volatility

A report by U.S.-based S&P Global Ratings Inc. said that Asia-Pacific reinsurers are facing increasing downside risks as they suffer subdued underwriting margins and slower growth amid market volatility and surging inflation, Asia Insurance Review reported. Increasing frequency of natural catastrophes and surging claims are likely to dent reinsurers’ earnings over the next two years, the report said.
