BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

Doyle to succeed retiring MMC CEO Glaser

Marsh & McLennan Cos. Inc. said Monday that John Q. Doyle, will take the helm of the company as president and CEO effective Jan. 1, 2023, succeeding Daniel S. Glaser who is retiring at the end of this year.

Mr. Glaser, who is 62, will also retire from the company’s board of directors and Mr. Doyle, aged 58, will join the board as a director, a Marsh McLennan statement said.

Mr. Doyle was named group president and chief operating officer of Marsh McLennan in January 2022, and prior to that was president and CEO of Marsh LLC, its main brokerage unit, from 2017 to 2021.

He joined Marsh McLennan in 2016, after a long career at American International Group Inc. during which he held various executive positions including CEO of AIG’s commercial insurance business and president and CEO of AIG’s property/casualty business in the U.S.

Mr. Glaser was named president and CEO of Marsh McLennan in 2013, succeeding the retiring Brian Duperreault.

Mr. Glaser had rejoined Marsh McLennan in 2007, while it was still recovering from the fallout from investigations into alleged bid-rigging, as chairman and chief executive officer of Marsh. He began his career at Marsh in 1982 but spent many of the intervening years with AIG.

During Mr. Glaser’s tenure at the helm of the company, Marsh McLennan’s revenues have increased to over $20 billion from $12 billion, H. Edward Hanway, chairman of the company’s board of directors said in the statement.

Mr. Glaser oversaw Marsh McLennan’s $5.6 billion acquisition of Jardine Lloyd Thompson Group PLC in 2019 and launched Marsh McLennan Agency LLC, its middle-market business, which has closed 100 acquisitions and grown to $2.5 billion in annual revenue, according to the statement.
