BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift stands accused of stealing poems and “vibes” from an old poetry book and publishing them as her own, according to a lawsuit accessed by celebrity news site TMZ on Wednesday and filed by a woman named Teresa La Dart against the music artist and her company.

Ms. La Dart claims Ms. Swift lifted elements of her 2010 book called “Lover,” which includes poems, anecdotes and photos, for her book of the same name, published by the famed musician in 2019 and features poems, anecdotes and photos, according to the website.

According to court documents accessed by TMZ, Ms. La Dart “insists the similarities between what she put out almost 10 years ago and what Taylor released are too close to ignore. She says her book was widely available and insinuates Taylor and Co. saw it and then essentially created carbon copy — trying to pass it off as original.”

TMZ reports that aside from sharing a title, Ms. La Dart claims the general concept of what Taylor did — a “recollection of past years memorialized in a combination of written and pictorial components,” according to La Dart — is exactly what her book is, “to a T.”

Ms. La Dart also claims the style of the photos featured on the cover/foreword are very similar with pastel pinks and blues in the color schemes of both books.

Ms. La Dart is asking for more than $1 million in damages, since she says Ms. Swift’s book sold at least 2.9 million copies in the U.S. alone, according to TMZ.
