BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

BRP donates $5.2 million to University of South Florida

BRP Group Inc. said Wednesday it has committed $5.2 million to the University of South Florida.

The gift from the Tampa, Florida-based brokerage and the Baldwin family that helped found the brokerage will support educational programs in the school of risk management and insurance in the university’s Muma College of Business in Sarasota.

The school, which offers undergraduate majors and minors in risk management and insurance and has 20 students enrolled, will be renamed the Baldwin Risk Partners School of Risk Management and Insurance.

The donation will be used to provide scholarships and other resources and support risk and management and insurance programs on the school’s three campuses, according to a statement from the university and BRP.

“This investment will broaden awareness of the diversity of career options available within this field of study and fuel the next generation of industry leaders,” said Lowry Baldwin, chairman and co-founder of BRP.

BRP will help revamp the risk management and insurance curriculum at the school and collaborate with the school to integrate students and graduates into its recruitment program, a company spokesman said in an email.
