It’s rare for a workers compensation recipient to voluntarily partake in opportunities that might prove fraud via video recordings.
Q’Orianka Kilcher filed a claim alleging she injured her neck and right shoulder while acting in the movie “Dora and the Lost City of Gold” in October 2018 and then went on to star in the television show “Yellowstone” while claiming she couldn’t work, according to the California Department of Insurance.
Ms. Kilcher is facing two felony counts of workers comp fraud for allegedly receiving $96,838 in benefits, the department said.
Following her October 2018 claim she saw a doctor a few times but stopped treatment, according to the department.
In October 2019, the same month she stopped filming the “Yellowstone” series, she contacted her employer’s insurer saying she needed treatment. She reportedly told the doctor handling her claim that she had been offered work, but she was not able to accept it because her neck pain was too severe. She started receiving temporary total disability benefits based on those statements, according to the department.
