An Alabama man was arrested Monday six years after he allegedly buried his 5,000-pound Hummer in an insurance fraud scheme.
Washington County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Bruce Parnell after investigators received an anonymous tip about a buried vehicle, Alabama’s WKRG News reported.
Investigators uncovered the buried 2006 Hummer, which was registered to Mr. Parnell, who reported it stolen about six years ago and collected a $22,000 insurance claim on the vehicle, according to the news report.
Mr. Parnell faces two felony counts of insurance fraud and a misdemeanor charge of filing a false report. He was later released on a $50,000 bond.
The life insurance policy on the man who assassinated President John F. Kennedy paid $863 to his mother, yet the death claim she filed to get that benefit has sold at auction for almost $80,000, according to the Associated Press.
