Hamilton Insurance Group forms U.S. E&S insurer

Hamilton Insurance Group Ltd. said Thursday it has formed Hamilton Select Insurance Inc., a U.S. excess and surplus lines insurer.
Clay Rhoades, previously president, U.S. E&S, has been named CEO of Hamilton Select and continues to report to Hamilton CEO Pina Albo.
Based in Richmond, Virginia, Hamilton Select will write “hard-to-place risks for small and mid-sized businesses, with plans for additional products and recruitment already underway,” Bermuda-based Hamilton Insurance Group said in a statement.
Hamilton Select, domiciled in Delaware, has received a financial strength rating of A-, Excellent, from A.M. Best Co., the statement said.
Mr. Rhoades said in the statement that the launch of Hamilton Select underscores Hamilton’s commitment to the U.S. E&S space.
