DHS establishes Cyber Safety Review Board

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security said Thursday it has established the Cyber Safety Review Board, a public-private initiative intended to elevate the nation’s cybersecurity.
The DHS said the board, which is being established as directed by President Biden’s May 2021 Executive Order 14028 on “Improving the Nation’s Cybersecurity,” will review and assess significant cybersecurity events.
The board’s first review will focus on the vulnerabilities discovered late last year in the widely used log4j library, which can be used to control computer systems remotely.
The 15 members of the board represent the federal government and the private sector, with Robert Silvers, DHS Under Secretary for Policy, serving as chair and Heather Adkins, Google LLC’s senior director for security engineering, as deputy chair.
