BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

Days away from work due to serious injuries decreased by 61% from 2019 to 2020, according to a new report from ISN Software Corp., despite an increase in the rate of serious injuries and fatalities.

The analysis from ISN showed the three-year average for serious injuries and fatalities increased from 391 incidents per 100,000 workers in 2019 to 429 incidents in 2020.

A higher number of serious injuries and fatalities were observed during the summer months, with the greatest rate of incidents recorded in July with a three-year average of 587 monthly incidents.

The greatest number of fatalities occurred among contractors in the construction space, accounting for 48% of all fatalities in 2020 and 42% of all serious injuries and fatalities, ISN found.

The leading cause of serious injuries and fatalities over the last three years was contact with an object or equipment, according to the ISN report. The second most common causes of incidents were falls, slips, or trips, followed by overexertion.
