Pfizer demands extensive indemnity from Dominican Republic

U.S.-based pharmaceutical company Pfizer Inc. and the Dominican Republic have signed a vaccine supply contract that offers an extensive indemnity to the company and covers legal action at any step of its supply chain including negligence, The Bureau of Investigative Journalism reported. Luis Gil Abinader, a researcher at non-governmental organization Knowledge Ecology International Inc., said wide-ranging indemnity shows how Pfizer is shifting the financial risks to Latin American governments.
