Swiss Re unit names global head of financial and professional liability

Swiss Re Corporate Solutions, part of Swiss Re Ltd., on Friday named Laura Coppola global head of its financial and professional liability business and made two other senior appointments in a push to grow the line of business.
Ms. Coppola, who joined the company in January as head of casualty and financial and professional liability North America, will take up her new role immediately, in addition to her existing responsibilities, Swiss Re Corporate Solutions said in a statement.
Ms. Coppola, who will continue to be based in New York, will oversee a team of business leaders, underwriters and product managers and develop the company’s financial and professional lines underwriting strategy globally, the statement said.
Ms. Coppola was named a 2018 Business Insurance Women to Watch.
Kristyn Smallcombe was named global head of construction professional indemnity and general liability, and Paul Rodriguez was appointed global head of executive risks, both reporting to Ms. Coppola, Swiss Re Corporate Solutions said.
Ms. Smallcombe will continue to be based in Chicago, and will develop Swiss Re Corporate Solutions’ construction professional indemnity and general liability underwriting approach in addition to her existing role as head of construction professional indemnity and general liability North America, the statement said.
Mr. Rodriguez will continue to be based in New York and will lead the executive risks product line, including directors and officers liability, employment practices liability and fiduciary liability in addition to his existing role as head of executive risks North America, Swiss Re Corporate Solutions said.
