Zurich promotes Signorelli to group chief underwriter

Zurich Insurance Group on Wednesday named Sierra Signorelli as group chief underwriting officer and said that the group’s claims function will move to its commercial insurance unit.
The changes, which take effect Oct. 1, come shortly after Zurich announced management changes in North America and other regions last week and the formation of a digital services platform.
Ms. Signorelli, who joined Zurich as chief underwriting officer for commercial insurance in 2017, will oversee the underwriting function across the group in her new role, Zurich said in a statement.
Ian Thompson will continue to serve as group chief claims officer, with the function moving into the commercial insurance unit, the statement said.
Ms. Signorelli and Mr. Thompson will report to James Shea, CEO of Commercial Insurance at Zurich.
Zurich said it is “bringing the two functions together under one structure to focus on support to underwriters and customers.”
Ms. Signorelli was named one of the Business Insurance Women to Watch last year.
