CNA’s chief actuary retiring, successor snagged from Chubb

CNA Financial Corp. on Tuesday said Larry Haefner, the company’s executive vice president and chief actuary, will retire, effective Dec. 31, and be succeeded by Robert Hopper.

Mr. Haefner, who will retire after a 40-year insurance career, has served as CNA chief actuary for the last 12 years, according to the insurer.

Mr. Hopper is joining CNA after a 28-year career at Chubb Ltd., where he most recently served as senior vice president and actuary, commercial insurance. 

Earlier this month, CNA named Daniel Franzetti, former chief operating officer of QBE North America, as executive vice president of worldwide claim.
