BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

10. ‘Dirty Dozen’ safety violators includes well-known firms

The National Council for Occupational Safety and Health’s 2019 scathing list of the “dirty dozen” companies that allegedly failed to protect workers from preventable illness, injury and death included some well-known employers.

The 10th most-read workers compensation story on Business Insurance in 2019, the list included The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Facebook Inc. in Menlo Park, California, and Purdue Pharmaceuticals LP in Stamford, Connecticut.

Also listed was Seattle-based Amazon.com Inc., which several federal legislators have asked the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration to investigate for subpar working conditions at company warehouses.

Meanwhile, OSHA said it performed more workplace inspections in 2019 than in any other year since 2015.
