W.R. Berkley combines health care liability units

W.R. Berkley Corp. has merged its health care professional liability insurers into a single operating unit, the Greenwich, Connecticut-based insurer announced Friday.
The new unit will be headed by Gregg A. Piltch as president, and Collin J. Suttie will be chairman, the insurer said in a statement.
Mr. Piltch was president of Berkley Healthcare, which offers professional liability and other management liability coverages to health care policyholders, and Mr. Suttie was president of BerkleyMed, an excess professional liability insurer. The combined unit will operate under the Berkley Healthcare name.
Mr. Suttie will support Mr. Piltch through the transition, and “Over time, he will support other Berkley initiatives and activities,” the statement said.
A W.R. Berkley spokeswoman said no other personnel changes were planned at Berkley Healthcare.
