NFP Corp. has hired former QBE North America executive Thomas Sheffield as a managing director in its financial institutions group, the New York-based brokerage announced Thursday.
Mr. Sheffield will be based in New York and report to Mark Flippen, managing director in the financial institutions group, NFP said in a statement.
Mr. Sheffield “brings a level of global specialty insurance experience that will enhance our competitiveness in the financial institutions space and contribute to the overall growth of our property/casualty business,” Henry Lombardi, executive vice president and head of NFP’s property and casualty operations, said in the statement.
Previously, Mr. Sheffield was senior vice president, head of specialty claims at QBE North America, a unit of Sydney-based QBE Insurance Group Ltd., and prior to that held senior vice president roles at Marsh LLC and Aon PLC, according to his LinkedIn profile.
Marsh LLC last week sued NFP Corp. for allegedly poaching 13 former JLT Specialty Insurance Services Inc. real estate employees.
