BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

American International Group Inc. said Wednesday it has made two underwriting appointments as well as an appointment to its Blackboard Insurance unit.

AIG said Kean Driscoll has been named global chief underwriting officer for property and agriculture, general insurance, and Alexander Baugh has been named global chief underwiring officer for casualty and financial lines, general insurance. Both appointments are effective immediately.

In these new roles, Mr. Driscoll and Mr. Baugh will work with general insurance’s global underwriting organization and regional business teams to align underwriting with AIG’s overall risk appetite and engage with clients and distribution partners on growth opportunities, the statement said. They will report to Tom Bolt, AIG general insurance’s global chief underwriting officer.

Mr. Driscoll most recently served as CEO of Validus Reinsurance Ltd. Jeff Clements, previously Validus Re’s chief underwriting officer, has been named CEO of Validus Re. AIG announced its plan to purchase Validus Holdings Ltd. for $5.56 billion in January.

Mr. Baugh was most recently president and CEO of North America general insurance.

AIG also said Uwe Schoberth, formerly global head of market management for the Sydney, Australia-based QBE Insurance Group Ltd., is joining its Blackboard Insurance unit, where he will focus on market relationships and the company’s expanding go-to-market strategy. AIG launched Blackboard, the new brand name for its technology-focused subsidiary, which previously operated under the Hamilton USA brand, in October.
