AIG rebrands technology unit as BlackboardReprints
American International Group Inc. has launched the new brand name Blackboard for its technology-focused subsidiary, which previously operated under the Hamilton USA brand, the insurer said Monday.
AIG completed the acquisition of Hamilton USA on Oct. 2. The unit will operate as a startup backed by the resources of AIG and is expected to launch by the second half of 2018, AIG said in a statement.
The company added that the name “represents a clean slate” and the unit’s “vision is to reimagine and transform commercial insurance through digital technology, data analytics, and automation.”
“Blackboard is a key part of AIG’s strategy to grow our business with the greatest competitive advantage and ability to serve our clients, today and into the future,” Seraina Macia, CEO of Blackboard U.S. Holdings Inc., said in the statement.
Ms. Macia was named head of the business in July.
