BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.
To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.
To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

AIG TRAVEL ASSISTANCE APP
Keeping travelers safe and informed is a key issue for risk managers, and American International Group Inc. has an app for that.
AIG Travel Assistance App, a 2017 Business Insurance Innovation Awards winner, provides risk managers and policyholders’ employees with access to travel, security and health information.
The mobile application was designed for effective travel risk management and has many features, including a one-touch “help” button to connect travelers directly to emergency travel assistance, which is the most popular feature of the app, said Rhonda Sloan, Houston-based global head of travel communications at AIG.
“The world today has become a much riskier place, especially for travelers. There are a lot of current issues people should deal with, whether it’s health issues — the latest Zika virus, Ebola — if it’s travel security, if a destination has become less safe,” said Ms. Sloan. The app is “a way to make sure that travelers have the information they need,” she added.
The original app was launched in 2014 as an extension of AIG’s secure desktop travel assistance website for access to travel security and health information.
“The app was just another way to put information in travelers’ hands, recognizing that many times travelers can’t just jump on their laptops if they are out on business travel to check on information that they might need if they are going to another destination,” Ms. Sloan said.
The progression from the website to the app was natural due to how often people use their mobile devices, she said.
The app includes travel training with modules that detail how to handle different risk scenarios. It also addresses risks specific to women, and AIG has plans to launch a version that addresses the different risks that members of the LGBTQ community face.
“The AIG Travel Assistance App is an excellent example of an innovation that evolved to meet the changing needs of our clients, and equips those organizations with a tool that assists toward their ‘dutyofcare’ obligations to traveling employees,” said Gaurav D. Garg, New Yorkbased CEO for personal insurance at AIG.
