Normandy Insurance Co. said Thursday it is now offering workers compensation coverage plans to small, mid-size and large businesses in Pennsylvania.
At the beginning of the year Deerfield Beach, Florida-based Normandy announced that it received authorization to provide workers comp insurance to employers in Georgia and Virginia.
“Pennsylvania is an especially exciting opportunity for us. The state enjoys a robust and diverse workforce, with the private sector accounting for roughly 88% of its total employment between 2008 and 2014,” Jayson Buechler, Miami-based senior vice president at Normandy, said in a statement. “Normandy has underwritten to a profit for five consecutive years — we are well-positioned to provide innovative and cost-effective workers’ compensation coverage to Pennsylvania’s wide array of employers.”
Pennsylvania lawmakers are considering a workers compensation drug formulary, putting the state in line with a national trend of states governing prescription habits among doctors to curb overprescribing of certain drugs, including opioids.
