Reinsurance retention declines

Nasr Ahmed Abdullah Al Salhi, an official at Oman's Capital Market Authority, said that reinsurance retention ratios declined in 2014 compared to 2013.

The Capital Market Authority said that of the total premium of OMR 400 million ($1 billion) collected by Omani insurers, 170 million Omani riyals was ceded for reinsurance premium in 2014, said the regulator. That’s a rate of 43%, compared to a 46% retention rate in 2013.
