Continuing a series of high-profile executive appointments, Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance, the new commercial property/casualty insurance unit of Berkshire Hathaway Inc., has hired Dan Fortin as senior vice president of executive and professional lines.
Previously senior vice president of CNA Financial Corp.'s specialty insurance unit, Chicago-based Mr. Fortin was responsible for its global management and professional liability business for nearly a decade, Boston-based Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance said Wednesday in a statement.
Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance officially launched last week and is headed by several former American International Group Inc. executives, including Peter Eastwood, who previously was president and CEO of AIG's property/casualty unit.
“Dan has a stellar reputation in the industry and a proven record of spearheading quality, profitable insurance businesses,” David Bresnahan, executive vice president for casualty, health care, executive and professional lines at Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance, said in a statement. “We are fortunate to be able to bring his innovative thinking and leadership to our executive and professional lines team.”
