DENVER--Travelers Cos. Inc. executive John A. Casper has been named to the newly established position of president and chief operating officer of Van Gilder Insurance Corp., the Denver-based brokerage said.
Mr. Casper most recently was president of Travelers' southwestern region and is widely credited with significantly increasing the region's profitability and growth during his tenure at the firm, Van Gilder said in its announcement Monday.
Jerry Ray, former president-corporate operations at Van Gilder has been named managing director and vice chairman, while Matt Coleman, former president-strategic operations has been named managing director and will continue to oversee the brokerage's commercial lines, a spokesman said.
Messrs. Ray and Coleman will report to Mr. Casper.
Based on $41.6 million in 2005 brokerage revenues, Van Gilder was the 53rd largest broker of U.S. business, according to Business Insurance's most recent rankings.
