BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

EC competition inquiry findings to be out this week

BRUSSELS, Belgium—The European Commission will on Wednesday publish the preliminary findings of its competition inquiry into the business insurance sector.

The EC said it would make public its interim report into whether cooperation between players in the European insurance industry was consistent with "healthy competition."

A public hearing on the findings is slated for February 9 in Brussels.

After feedback from interested parties, the EC will publish a final report on competition in the business insurance sector in the summer.

EC Competition Commissioner, Neelie Kroes, launched the inquiry to ascertain whether cooperation among insurers in certain areas exceeded "what is healthy for competition in the single market."
