Rising inflation could negatively impact insurers, reinsurers

According to Willis Re Ltd., rising inflation could accelerate the post pandemic economic recovery but it could impact the financial position of insurers negatively, Asia Insurance Review reported. Willis Re says that inflation could adversely affect insurers’ long-tail reserves and result in greater losses than reserved for, while reinsurers’ underwriting profitability could suffer from relatively greater excess of loss reinsurance.
