KPMG faces $21 million fine for misconduct in a 2011 deal

The U.K.’s Financial Reporting Council is looking to impose a £15 million ($21 million) fine on KPMG U.K. Ltd. for the latter’s “gross misconduct” over a conflict of interest in an acquisition deal in 2011, Bloomberg reported. KPMG advised on the purchase of U.K.-based bed manufacturer Silentnight Group Ltd. by private equity firm HIG Capital LLC and is accused of dishonestly advancing or associating itself with misleading statements.
