Santam sued for denying business interruption claims

Businesses in Cape Town have sued South Africa-based insurer Santam Ltd. for denying COVID-19 pandemic-related business interruption claims, The Africa Report reported. The insurer says that the government-imposed lockdown, and not the pandemic, caused business losses and therefore the infectious diseases clause in its policies does not apply.
