Reinsurers, ILS funds withhold renewal capacity

Analysts at U.S.-based investment banking firm Keefe, Bruyette & Woods Inc. said that some reinsurers and insurance-linked securities funds have been holding back capacity in hopes of finding a less competitive and more profitable market opportunities after the main mid-year renewals are over, Artemis reports. Irregular participants like U.S.-based investment banking firm D. E. Shaw & Co. L.P. and Berkshire Hathaway Inc. have added to the mid-year renewal competition, the analysts said.
