Argo Group likely to face $25 million in catastrophe losses

Bermuda-based insurer and reinsurer Argo Group International Holdings Ltd. is likely to record $25 million in pre-tax catastrophe losses in the third quarter, The Royal Gazette reported. Hurricane Florence in North America and typhoon Jebi in Asia among other catastrophes are expected to drive the losses. Mark Watson, Argo's chief executive, said that the insurer restructured its reinsurance program and increased its use of third-party capital for this year to mitigate the losses.
