Analysts said that shipping companies are unprepared for new pollution rules coming into force from 2020 and could find their insurance voided if they fail to comply with the regulations, Reuters reported. Under the new rules, the United Nations' International Maritime Organization could ban ships using fuel with sulfur content higher than 0.5%, compared to the current 3.5%, unless a vessel has equipment to clean up the emissions.
