Mohammed Ali Londe, assistant vice president at U.A.E.-based Moody's Investors Service Middle East Ltd., predicted more mergers and acquisitions in the Gulf region insurance sector this year, Zawya reported. Mr. Londe said that stricter underwriting rules "are posing more and more operational challenges to the smaller insurers in particular." The insurance industry's profitability is also likely to attracts investor interest and drive more M&As in the market, he added.
