A report by Swiss Re Ltd. found that continued softness of the nonlife insurance market is outweighing premium growth opportunities, as softer premium rates cause the nonlife sector to stagnate, Artemis.bm reports. "On the nonlife side, global premiums grew 3.7% in 2016, reflecting relatively solid expansion among the emerging countries and another exceptional performance in China," Swiss Re said. At the same time profitability is under pressure in nonlife insurance markets due to the weight of capacity targeting the sector, the reinsurer added.
