BI’s Article search uses Boolean search capabilities. If you are not familiar with these principles, here are some quick tips.

To search specifically for more than one word, put the search term in quotation marks. For example, “workers compensation”. This will limit your search to that combination of words.

To search for a combination of terms, use quotations and the & symbol. For example, “hurricane” & “loss”.

Bush signs ADA Amendments Act into law

Reprints

WASHINGTON—President Bush signed the ADA Amendments Act into law Thursday.

The measure, which won final House approval last week, is designed to restore some of the protections initially provided to disabled people by the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.

Supporters of the bill, which included employers, advocates for the disabled and the administration, said the measure was needed because of a series of court decisions that scaled back the ADA's reach.

The new law requires judges to interpret the law broadly and makes clear that the use of mitigating devices, such as diabetes medication, does not remove an individual from the ADA's protections.
